Michael Della Barba to Present at the National Conference on Building Commissioning 2017
Commissioning and the NCBC: 25 year review through three perspectives
October 17, 2017
After 25 years and over 750 projects, Michael Della Barba presents challenges overcome and challenges yet to come in the commissioning industry.
Since the early 1990s, the client and vendor markets for building commissioning services have changed dramatically, while the scope and fee have expanded and contracted with the changing economic landscape and a greater understanding of the value of commissioning. Client expectations for scope and rigor have been influenced by systems failures, critical spaces, campus responsibility, LEED, building codes, sustainability, energy and more.
Mike has viewed the development of the commissioning industry through three different lenses. First in the construction industry with an emphasis on contracts, second as the manager of a commissioning program for a utility to improve project realization rates, and currently, as EH&E’s Director of Commissioning.
This presentation will analyze changes in the demand, scope, focus, fee, practitioners and value of commissioning services.
