Matt is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health and safety of people both in their workplaces and in their communities. As Practice Director, Matt directs a multi-disciplinary team of industrial hygienists, safety professionals, hazardous material managers, and compliance and air quality experts to help higher education and commercial institutions achieve this same goal.
Matt has managed numerous large scale and complex exposure and forensic investigations involving contaminants such mold, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and toxic gases. He has also participated in nationwide studies of commercial buildings, schools, and residences that were sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Matt has advanced training and education in leading edge aspects of occupational / industrial hygiene including Bayesian Decision Analysis, mathematical modeling of exposures, censored data analysis, and the design and implementation of complex environmental sampling strategies.
While often called upon to evaluate and control existing hazards, one of Matt’s greatest strengths is the ability to anticipate and recognize hazards before they become problems for his clients. He takes a personal interest in learning about the innovative processes and projects that his clients are working on. Matt knows that with innovation, a new approach to safety may be required, and he enjoys developing those new approaches to ensure not only the safety of his clients, but also so that they can continue their work without interruption.
