In an editorial published in more than 200 leading medical and health journals worldwide, authors declared climate change the greatest threat to global public health. The healthcare sector contributes 8.5% of total U.S. emissions, making them key players in combatting climate change.
On Earth Day 2022 the Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with the White House, issued a call to action to hospitals, health systems and other industry stakeholders. The Health Care Sector Climate Pledge invites organizations to commit to lowering their greenhouse gas emissions and building a more climate resilient infrastructure.
